HOUSING ASSISTANCE SERVICES

CHASS assists in finding and connecting participants based on the criteria and requirements for safe short and long-term community housing programs, such as: 

• Shelters 
• Transitional Housing 
• Single-room occupancy (SRO)  
• DBH Housing Eligibility Assessment List (HEAL) placement 
• Permanent Supportive Housing 
• Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly known as “Section 8” 
• Affordable apartments 
• The Inclusionary Zoning (IZ)  
• Rent Assistance and more.

CHASS works with community organizations that match companies and job candidates to help participants find and apply for jobs based on their strengths or connect to SOAR programs for benefits. Unemployment, underemployment, and low wages relative to rent are all common causes of homelessness. Individuals experiencing homelessness, on the other hand, face difficulties in finding and maintaining employment. Because we believe that we are stronger together, CHASS offers both support services and community services.

CHASS outreach team provides crisis assessment and interventions to homeless people, whether on the streets or in homeless shelters, to assist with linking to appropriate resources such as food pantries, DBH CSA if experiencing a mental health crisis, SOAR programs, permanent supportive housing, and more.  

CHASS Homeless Outreach Teams also help people who are homeless locate shelters during extreme weather..
